Below are the preliminary board minutes for the recent board meeting from January 15, 2014. They will be formally approved at the next meeting, scheduled for February 12, at Joseph Cartwright’s house at 7pm. (E-mail him directly for directions/addresses.

Fundraising

• Looking to secure The Eagle for St. Patrick’s Day period and/or in May.
• Hi Tops unavailable for St. Patrick’s weekend
• Other fundraising ideas
• non-bar activities such as silent auction, dog wash, win-a-date with a Spike, San Jose soccer game, art gallery, BBQ, etc.

Spirit of Football / World Cup

• Chase presented an idea of doing a fundraiser/event for the Spirit of Football, either March 1 or 2. He will do continued outreach to see if it’s feasible and board will review.

Finance

• Determining procedures to ensure all active players in indoor league pay by deadline.
• Will have Square available at Monday soccer nights (and later) to collect dues

Coaching, Try-outs, Teams

• Ed Center will coach Team 1
• Tae-Wol will coach Team 2
• No coaching candidates yet for team 3
• Team 1 tryouts January 26 at Crocker Amazon (11am-1pm)
• Survey to players about playing in the spring/indoor year-round
• Sports4Good teams will start in April
• Discussion about whether to balance Teams 2 & 3 in the Sports4Good league; decision will be placed before player pool later

Equipment inventory

• Team 1: three white jerseys missing
• Pilsner: only one jersey missing
• Numerous Folsom tournament jerseys are missing (15 blue; 18 white) (sfisready.org)
• To track down jerseys, JC and Chase will send e-mails to attempt to locate jerseys. 2 pop-up goals missing
• Later discussion to come to have a process in place to reduce loss
• New process to talk with coaches and understand equipment needs for a season

Indoor league

• New players who are not members need to sign waivers to play
• JC will purchase additional goalie gloves for indoor

Survey and Miscellany

• 40 replies of 150 possible
• Encourage members to be more active in non-soccer activities
• Family and Friends activity (maybe April 20)
• Board agreed to seek a way of recognizing members through birthdays. A volunteer to take on this task is being sought
• Board will look into process of updating the website

Gay Games

• Patrick Johnston has a contact in Ohio to help with hotel arrangements/transportation to fields in Akron
• Soccer teams are going to see if we can move the fields from Akron
• Gay Games mixer at Hi Tops on February 7 (not a fundraiser/all sports)
